I would rather die

Come on people, every time I turn on the news or watch a talk show or here of another person dying of cancer I wonder why with all the information on the web and so many people now in the know about healing disease naturally that this is still happening.  It is like society is divided into two groups, one who thinks that disease is a mystery and the other who understand that you are what you eat.  You can even look people in the eye and explain that by changing what you eat and understanding things such as fasting on juices and water that it gives your body a chance to recover from the onslaught of cooked dead food that we have been stuffing into our faces for quite some time now and they would rather die than change what they eat.  We are at such an exciting time in the development of human conciousness and I can’t find one reason why the heck someone wants to check out with cancer and die of the disease.  Cancer is nothing but a dirty body, whether it be luekemia (dirty blood) or breast cancer, the way to enable your body to heal is by changing what you are putting into it.  It is like we are addicted to disease.  The emotions that surround it or even crazier the fact that we get attention and life even becomes a bit exciting when we are sick.  What a crazy concept!  I have been told that it is extreme to eat only raw food.  But tell me please what is more extreme, getting your breasts cut off, nuking your body with toxic chemo drugs and letting yourself die or deciding not to put crap into your body again.  I am rather like a hard out bootcamp bitch.  Tell people exactly what they don’t want to hear but need to hear anyway.  How else can you wake people up from the sleep of not realizing that food is what is causing your disease.

So if you are one of those people who think they would rather die than change your diet, how about adding in one green smoothie a day to your diet.  It is that simple and you will be amazed at the changes.  Come on I really dont think anyone can actually enjoy feeling pain from disease, whether it be the sore back, pain in our ankle or eczema you have had all your life.  Try raw foods for just one week.  Or add in a green smoothie twice a day for just one week.  You will be absolutely delighted.  Stop dying of cancer it is absolutely unnecessary.

Goodness Gracious Great Balls

Hi Lovelies, have just come from the kitchen and want to share my easy peasy goodness gracious great balls recipe with you all.  These balls are so easy to make in 5 minutes and are a guaranteed success with children.  My girls sometimes find it hard at school with all the other children and their packaged chippies and the likes but when they took goodness gracious great balls the other children were hounding them to try and once they did they were amazed at how good they tasted.  Going by most children’s lunch boxes these days I was not suprised they liked them, it is probably the only real food they get!

Here goes, enjoy.

1 cup of cashews

1/2 cups pistachios (purchased raw from indian spice shop)

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1 cup oats

1/2 t cinnamon and pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups of chopped dates

agave or runny honey to form stickier balls.

Put the nuts in a food process until they are quite ground.  Add in oats, cinnamon and salt and pulse for another 30 secs or so.  Add chopped dates and continue until the mixture starts to get sticky, if it doesnt get sticky slowly drizzle in agave or honey until you have desired consistency to be able to form balls with your hands.  Make sure not to over process nuts as the mixture can become too oily.  Have fun in the process, making balls like this to the perfect consistency is a matter of practice.  If you find the mixture isnt able to form balls.  I have used this recipe also as a mueslie, just make almond milk, poor over and enjoy.

PS.  I love the name here I came up with, if you are bored in your life and want some random craziness, start making yourself laugh by coming up with different names for the food you are eating.  Life has become far to stuffy, so many rules and the like and way to much boringness everywhere.  Be bold, be brave, be random, make yourself laugh today by stepping outside your comfort zone and doing something different.

Vitamins and Minerals

Real N’ Raw showcases a solution that offers everyone a chance to live a pain and disease free life.  So many of us still think that health is unaffordable, that organic fruit and vegetables and things that are marketed like health supplements are so expensive that it can really stop someone from thinking that health is not obtainable because of budget.  For centuries we have been indoctrinated with poverty, especially as the world population grows and the wealth/poverty gap grows bigger.  But ask yourself what is able to bridge that gap, what is it that is able to give that feeling of abundance, excellence and that feeling that comes through living our dreams.  So I want people to understand that no matter where you are on the financial ladder, health is obtainable for you.  Once you make your mind up and decide that change is going to happen in your life no matter what, then the solutions can appear.  It is when we say that oh no it is too expensive or I can’t afford to buy fruits that the mental poverty trap keeps us in our misery.  Me and my girls constantly not because we have too but because it is really a fun thing to do scour the neighbourhodd for locally grown back yard fruit.  We have a great time, jumping fences, loading up jumpers and pockets with fruit and not to mention the taste of the stuff.  Delectable.  Talk to your neighbors, share back yard fruit, it is a great way to get to know everyone.

Anyway back on to supplements such as vitamins and minerals.  I just want people to know that even though there are a lot of good extra additions to a healthy raw diet out out there, don’t think because you can’t afford them that you can’t reach optimum health for you.  Matty’s best healing was done eating watermelon and lemons alone for weeks on end.  Yes just watermelon and lemons, in fact that is what saved him from an early grave.  Sometimes he would only be spending $15 a week on food and that was when he was able to put in the hard yard to make Real N’ Raw possible.  He had so much energy that he was sleeping less, working out more and able to balance his new found health freedom.  So no we are not trying to put the supplements industry out of business but what we are offering is a solution that is obtainable on any budget.

Please remember that it takes time to heal after years of eating a processed and enzyme deficient diet we are finding that people want overnight miracles.  Even though when Matty went raw the initial boost of energy and pain relief was a highlight, it was just the beginning of a roller coaster ride towards health.  It is not all easy and there are some huge detox periods that people are mistaking for allergies and thinking that raw food is not for everyone.  Once you understand how the body works and heals itself you too can understand that the process takes time.  It is not a magic pill but more an ongoing choice to be healthy and is certainly worth the ride.  Who on earth wants to live in pain and disease, no not much fun at all.  We had our share of that and think that once you know the solution the long and short term benefits are well worth the self discipline to obtain.  You will be amazed at how the most annoying little things mental, emotional and physical can just disappear after a period on raw foods.

Gosh, how many people do you know have a health related issue.  Obesity, diabetes, aging (yes health related), Alzheimer’s, asthma, eczema, cancer, aids, leukemia, heart disease, blood pressure, mental illness, depression, aches, pains, anger problems, acne, period complaints oh the list goes on.  Yet a very small and I mean TINY portion of the people would want to associate this to the diet we are consuming.  Real N’ Raw has a great quote in it and that is “It is easier to change a man’s religion than it is to change his diet”.  Now well ain’t that the truth.  I think to start with we should look at the facts.  Don’t go changing anything just yet, put your ego aside, get out of your and everyone elses way and look at the facts.  Find the people who get results outside of pills, medication and the current mainstream health solutions.  People with any disease are starting to turn to alternatives such as naturopaths, osteopaths etc but out right refusal to look at the fundamental, because that would mean having to change what you eat.  It is ironic, I eat and comfort the disease I have with the very thing that has caused the disease in the first place.  Think about it, if you are sick to any degree, including aches and pains and you are eating and type of meat including fish, dairy, bread or any type of processed food then there you have your answer staring you in the face.  Well I may not be a medical dr but I hold a science degree and I know how to research, I also knew how to motivate my dying partner into changing his ways.

Matty’s biggest hurdle was letting go of disease, after so long living with it, it becomes your identity.  When you start to heal it is almost like you are so wide awake for the first time it can be quite a emotional ride.  But well worth the effort.  There is no food that tastes as good as being healthy feels.  Nor any drug recreational or medical that will provide the high that fasting and raw food provides.

We thank everyone who helped us through this little miracle.  I now have a loving, happy, kind, adorable fiance and we will live happily ever after.  So to all those who deny the rights of others to live a natural lifestyle we wish you love, cause obviously somewhere there you are lacking in your ego mind to find the humility to seek beyond all that you have ever known.  Jump into the unknown, life is such an extraordinary journey don’t waste it on doing things that you will regret, rather build a legacy that is one proud of remembering for generations to come.

By stepping into action, the process takes care of itself.  I often wondered how people became wealthy, healthy, bright and bubbly and now from creating this movie as an independent film, outside of any rules or regulations I know why.  It is about following your journey and not taking no for an answer.  You see so many people have dreams and often when they come up against a no, it stops us in our tracks.  However when that no comes, it can be seen as a time for contemplation and more strength and determination to make our dreams a 3D reality.  Who is in control of our life, well that would be each and every individual.  I feel so blessed after the last year and a half working on Real N’ Raw, it was not the destination, although that is a pretty cool accomplishment, it was the journey and what happened to me along the way.  I am now a totally different person.  I have faced so many old patterns from my childhood that kept saying no you cant do that or who do you think you are blah blah blah.  Well we are all the stars in our own lives and life the journey  is exactly that, the journey of understanding and amazement and shedding of any negative belief patterns that stop us in our magnificence.

Make your day the most magnificent ever because you are the one star in it!

I lived with someone who was so terribly ill for many years.  We lived through each day with some hope that one day it would be OK.  That one day, there would be no more pain, suffering and all the emotional and physical burden that goes with that.  That person was the Director of Real N’ Raw.

Real N’ Raw is our story.  Real N’ Raw saved Matthew Wilson’s life.  Real N’ Raw saved my life.  Real N’ Raw if you choose to watch it can give you the information that can empower you to live your life to the fullest too.

I had no idea when I met him, that he was so sick.  Honestly I do not think most people realise how sick they actually are until it stares them in the face.  But Matthew did, he knew that if he did not change he would be dead soon.  It was the most frustrating thing I have ever come across.  Someone with an answer who struggled to get out of his own way and turn their life around.

I have my own opinion about why that is and it happens to be that these bodies are so resilient and continually finding homeostasis that how toxic and poisonous they really are is not seen as the body is built to strive to stay alive.  But Matthew knew.  I knew.  We all knew that the answer lied in actually having the motivation to do it.

I have listened and watch by as people die, waiting for miracles to happen to them as they wish cancer or whatever other disease it is they have away.  While the answer is staring us right in the face.  It is the strength and courage to stand up in face of what we have always been told and walk in the opposite direction.  The journey to do this is the most empowering you can do.  The journey that overrides culture, heritage, mums, dads and everything you have ever known.

I say why walk a path you know when the excitiment of jumping in the deep end and finding you can swim is the most exhilirating of them all.

Life has begun abound for us again.  Just as many systems are collapsing and the governments have decided to continue to tax us silly while supporting the industries that are like bullets to a gun.  Changing your diet to raw and having the strength to stand up and make a change in your own world defies everything I have ever known.

I was first introduced to yoga when I met a lovely yogi while living in London in 1998.  I was so amazed at what he could do with his body, the strength and agility was such an inspiration.  That was it I was hooked.  I joined a few classes, bought books, went to India and became a little yogini fanatic.  Little by little my yoga journey opened up so many interesting doors for me.  One day, you know one of those WOW days when you discover something that has a huge impact on your life and you want to shout from the rooftops was when I discovered how more amazing yoga was while eating a raw diet.  I had plateaued in my capacity and felt like I was not improving on strength, agility or complexity of my postures despite a daily practice.  Then I went raw.  I had so much energy that I was up at 5am to go to my bikram yoga class and then by the end of the day, I still wasnt tired so I would go to an Ashram yoga class, alongside working and mothering, cleaning, shopping and gardening.  I did this for 3months pretty much non stop.  My body was transforming like I had never known it and I was so excited.  Life was great and getting better.  During this training there was never one day when I woke up in pain, there was never any lactic acid build up.  One of my yoga teachers at the time, told me how crazy I was to be on a raw diet.  But I always say, you are your own master, no one can tell you how to live your life better than you know yourself.  That is another thing about being raw, the longer you are with it, I have found the stronger I am mentally and emotionally.

So I decided to google Raw Yoga and well was I in for a huge suprise.  I discovered Rainbeau Mars.  For anyone who has interest in yoga I absolutely recommend checking out her website and classes.  I got so excited that I travelled all the way to LA as part of Real N’ Raw to meet with her and take one of her classes.  It was such a delight and her style and attitude to life was a perfect fit for us.  She has worked with some of the top athletes in the world including Steffi Graf and Jonah Lomu and is the global ambassador for Adidas.

So for all you budding yogi’s and yogini’s out there, I can absolutely recommend increasing the amount of raw fruit and food in general into your diet.  Being fit, flexible, strong and balanced does not come from eating pies and drinking coke.  It is not rocket science, it is common sense.  I wish I had discovered it sooner!

What is raw food?

Raw food is food which has never been heated nor treated with chemicals so it retains the enzymes and nutrients of its natural state. As soon as a food is cooked or has added chemicals, the vitamins, nutrients, enzymes, and other healthy compounds start to change or become destroyed and the food no longer has the life and health-giving properties it should.

What benefits come from eating a raw food diet?

There are so many benefits, we can’t even list them all. But for starters: people feel more energetic, more awake and healthier on raw. Most people lose excess weight, look and feel younger and more vibrant. Digestive problems like ulcers and acid reflux decrease and disappear. Skin conditions like acne tend to clear up. Body odor decreases. People get far fewer illnesses. People with diseases see relief and many eventually heal when their bodies are not burdened with toxins or an overload of work and can clean out and repair themselves.

What do raw foodists eat?

In a nutshell, raw foodists eat: fresh, raw fruits and vegetables as well as seeds, nuts and some soaked or sprouted grains. There are unlimited recipes and dishes which are made from these ingredients, including: pates, loafs, “noodles”, cakes, cookies, crackers, soups, salads and marinades. Raw Foodists do not have to eat only salads!

Does a raw diet include raw meat?

Not usually. Some raw foodists in a transition period will choose to eat things like mahi tuna or steak tartar, but after awhile they usually stop. It isn’t necessary, you won’t gain any thing by eating it. Raw meat is still hard for the body to process, so it can’t assimilate the nutrients in meat as well as from vegetables, fruits and soaked nuts and sprouted seeds. Raw meat often contains parasites which also reduce the amount of nutrition available. Many raw foodists are also against eating meat for humane and ecological reasons.

What about protein, how do I get enough of it?

This is the #1 question people have when they are considering a raw food diet. People think that protein comes only from meat, dairy or at least soy, and that without eating at least some of those foods, they won’t get enough.. As a matter of fact every living cell contains protein: every plant cell has protein as a basic constituent in its cytoplasm. Vegetables contain protein! Seeds and nuts obviously contain proteins. Seaweeds and algae are very rich sources also. Factually, your body doesn’t use whole proteins – it must break these down into amino acids. Plant proteins generally break down for assimilation more quickly than animal proteins and are often found already in the form of amino acids.

The horse, cow, deer, elephant, and gorilla are naturally vegetarians -where does all their muscle and body mass come from? Grass, leafy greens, and in the case of the gorilla, fruit! The meat and dairy industries have spent millions on advertising to convince people the only way to get protein is from meat and dairy products, and they have been very successful. In fact, the protein in meat is coagulated and in a form that the body cannot assimilate easily, and cannot use effectively. The consumption of meat and dairy (and the fat within it) has been linked to all kinds of fatal illnesses, including heart failure..

The fact is, your body needs 22 amino acids in order to build protein molecules and muscles. Of these 22 amino acids, there are 8 which the body cannot make and must get from outside sources. All 8 are available in raw plant foods. And in raw plant foods they are in a form which is easily assimilated and used by the body. All the protein your body needs can be gotten from raw nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits.

If you are still worried about protein, we recommend you get started on a raw food diet, but eat very small amounts of meat (3 to 5 oz) only a few times a week. And try to get the cleanest, organic meat, with no hormones, that you can. After some time of doing this people generally find that they no longer feel they need the meat, and end up not eating it anymore. In this way you can find out for yourself that you are getting the protein you need.
